Recent incidents in the Golan Heights continue to cast a shadow on the attitudes of Israeli leaders amid reports that Israel plans to carry out new strikes in Syria. These future attacks would be in fulfillment of Israel’s declared policy of preventing strategic weapons from being transferred through Syria to Hizbullah.

DEARBORN — With 22 candidates in the running for seven City Council seats in Dearborn, Kristyn Taylor, 26, has emerged as the youngest of them all. DEARBORN HEIGHTS — The City of Dearborn Heights' official list of municipality candidates  has been released, and there are not enough people in the running to warrant a primary election in any of the categories. This means all candidates will immediately advance to the November 5 General Election.

Reasonable people can disagree on what to do about Syria, a problem with no good solutions, and particularly about what to do regarding aid to Syrian rebels. There ought not to be disagreement, however, on not letting the United States, a would-be benefactor, get pushed around or have its diplomacy subverted by the rebels, who are the supplicants.
