Stabenow offers $7,500 rebate to attract electric car buyers
Friday, 02.18.2011, 11:44am

U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow of Michigan recently introduced legislation that would make electric car buyers eligible for a $7,500 rebate. Businesses will also receive tax credit for purchasing plug-in hybrid trucks. The incentives are being offered under Sen. Stabenow’s Charging America Forward Act. Stabenow called Michigan a leader in emerging hi-tech battery and electric car production. She says other countries are developing advanced vehicle markets because they realize electric cars' economic potential.  General Motors Spokesman Greg Martin said the plan integrates all components necessary for accelerating electric cars in the marketplace.
