Donations sought for surgery for baby with leukemia
Friday, 12.10.2010, 03:10am

DEARBORN — The family of 10-month old infant Amir Samhat, which lives in Lebanon, are seeking donations for a surgery expected to take place in two weeks that will help the child battle leukemia.  The proceeds are being collected by Ali Samhat, the infant's cousin. Samhat says the family was preparing to sell their apartment in Lebanon to help cover the costs of the surgery until he stepped in and promised to help raise money. "I stopped the sale because it would make them homeless," Samhat said.  He's managed to raise $15,000 of the $300,000 that is needed. In addition to the infant the family has two children who attend college in Lebanon. "I do not have much skill in fundraising but I am trying to do my best to help a little child," Samhat said.  Donations can be made directly to Samhat by calling 313.598.0199 or by wiring funds to Bank Audi in Lebanon, account number  71005600078158846100202601. The signer on the account is Abbas Samhat.
