The Center will have five indoor basketball/volleyball courts. Doors will open on April 29 with a ribbon cutting dinner on May 4.
DEARBORN HEIGHTS — On Sunday, April 29, 2012 from noon-5 p.m. H.Y.P.E. (Helping Youth Progress & Excel) Athletics Community, a non-profit organization, will open their doors for the first time ever to the brand new 104,000 sq. ft. Wayne County—H.Y.P.E. Recreation Center, prior to a May 4 ribbon cutting ceremony and formal dinner at 6 p.m..  The Recreation Center is located on Warren Ave. between Ann Arbor Trail and Telegraph Rd. in Dearborn Heights. The new Recreation Center consists of five indoor basketball/volleyball courts, separate men’s and women’s weight training rooms, an indoor track, separate locker rooms, a computer lab, library, classrooms and a health café.  Member benefits include group fitness classes, tutoring, mentoring, life skills, career development, health education, substance abuse prevention and much more.  The recreation center will act as a safe haven for education and physical fitness.

“These events couldn’t come soon enough.  We’ve worked non-stop for this day and we’re excited about what the center will offer; from amenities to member benefits.  “Tell your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers and join us Sunday, April 29th or if you can’t make it then, the dinner is also open to all,” said Ali Sayed, Founder and CEO of H.Y.P.E. Athletics Community.

Throughout the day H.Y.P.E. will demonstrate various programs that will be available at the Recreation Center.  The staff will be on hand to answer questions, provide tours, sign up members and register participants for spring/summer programs.  Family, youth, individual and senior memberships will be available for purchase.  The May 4 ribbon cutting and dinner will be hosted at the facility featuring Emcee, Syma Chowdhry, CW50 and CBS morning news anchor and former NFL All-Pro Detroit Lion Herman Moore.  Tickets for the dinner are $50 and are available online at www.eventbrite.com or by calling the H.Y.P.E. office at 313-357-5458.
