St. Jude Children’s: Born and built from Arab American heritage

DETROIT — Arab Americans have always shared a great sense of pride and ownership over St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The internationally renowned pediatric research and treatment facility was built by Arab Americans, proud of their heritage and anxious about giving back to the country that provided them with so much opportunity.

HAMTRAMCK — City resident and Yemeni American Dr. Abdul Algazali is currently serving his second term as Council President and Mayor Pro-Tem. He’s reportedly the first Arab American in the city’s history to hold the positions.
