DEARBORN — Adel Harb kicked off his campaign for Wayne County Circuit Court Judge in Dearborn on Wednesday at the Byblos Banquet Hall. The fundraiser rallied up his supporters for the race that is viewed as one of the most competitive in the state as 12 candidates have announced they are running for the positions, with only three spots available. 

“The goal of this event is to get some financial support, gather up volunteers and get the word out,” Harb, the current 19th District Court Magistrate said. “The reception so far has been excellent. A lot of amazing people have showed their support.”

The four-hundred guests in attendance included key figures in the community, who were there to support the longtime Dearborn attorney such as  Wayne County Circuit Court judges David Allen, Annette Berry, Charlene Elder and Kathleen McCarthy, 19th District Court Judge Richard Wygonik, MSU Board of Trustees candidate Brian Mosallam, Former Wayne County Deputy CEO Azzam Elder, current 19th District Court Judge candidate Sam Salamey, along with representation from Congressman John Conyers’ office among others. 

Harb thanked his guests on the stage and urged his supporters to try and rally up support outside of the Dearborn community as well.

“This seat covers the entire county of Wayne including Dearborn and 42 other cities. It’s really important to keep in mind for anybody you know outside of Dearborn, they all can vote and it’s very important that we get the support,” he said. “Our work doesn’t stop here, we have to get people to vote.”

Harb stated that his campaign is eying the primary elections which will take place on August 7. A win that day would lock him in for the general elections that will be held on November 6.
