Detroit Police Department focuses more on preventing crime at gas stations
Sunday, 08.26.2012, 01:31am
DETROIT — The Detroit Police Department is giving more attention to placing greater security measures at gas stations here where they say statistics show a high number of carjackings takes place.  Recently The Arab American News published a piece chronicling a typical day for gas station owners in the city, and learned more about the extremely dangerous work environments they are placed in everyday. Some residents expressed concern about the announcement saying there were lots of other dangerous places police should be concentrating their energy on. Officers are also stopping by banks more frequently. One gas station owner says having a police officer visit his business at night when crime is more likely to occur helps.
