Kay Siblani, the late editor of The Arab American News who succumbed to cancer Jan. 1, 2013 was widely known for her work with the paper, but she wore many other hats throughout her life. To her family, she was a passionate caregiver, who everyone could depend on when a health issue emerged. Siblani always went out of her way to care for relatives, and others.

Arab Americans launch the ‘Bargain Club’ in Westland

WESTLAND — Bargain Club, Michigan’s newest retailer of closeouts, excess inventory, and liquidation merchandise, opened its first store here on Nov. 2. Over forty dignitaries and elected officials joined Westland Mayor William Wild in inaugurating the city’s new retail establishment on Tuesday during a grand opening ribbon cutting ceremony. The founders of Bargain Club are Chaker Aoun and Nasser Beydoun.

MSU Board of Trustee Brian Mosallam scores landmark win for Arab Americans

DEARBORN — Brian Mosallam set a new precedent last week when he was elected by over 1.9 million Michigan residents on the Michigan State University (MSU) Board of Trustees, becoming the first Arab American Muslim to win a statewide election on a Democratic slate. The position couldn't seem more fitting for Mosallam, who was previously a student at the University. During his time there he became co-captain of the football team and graduated with honors after receiving his business of science degree in engineering arts in 1996.
