Hamtramck program encourages residents to pay outstanding balances to City

HAMTRAMCK — The City of Hamtramck and the 31st District Court have teamed  up to offer a month-long amnesty program, titled “Make It Right In May” that is designed to encourage individuals and businesses to “make right” any outstanding violations they may have with the City, or the court.  
HYPE Athletics hosts Jurassic Journey Dinosaur Exhibit for first time in Michigan

DEARBORN HEIGHTS — Beginning May 2, the HYPE Recreation Center will host the Jurassic Journey Dinosaur Exhibit, titled the “Burning Tree Mastodon,” for the first time in the State’s history.

DEARBORN — Less than two weeks are left to file a petition to run for office in Dearborn. To date, 30 people have pulled petitions, including twenty-two people for city council, three for city clerk and six for mayor. 
Community to host fundraiser and blood drive for member in need of kidney transplant, May 22

DEARBORN — On Wednesday, May 22 at 6:30 p.m., community members will host a fundraising event to help 21-year-old Mohamed Haidar, who has been on dialysis for the last five years and is in desperate need of a kidney transplant.  Haidar requires a blood type A, or O kidney match. The dinner will take place at Greenfield Manor, located at 4770 Greenfield Road, Dearborn. Tickets are $25. 
Civil rights group files lawsuit against Michigan Department of Corrections for failure to accommodate Muslim inmates

SOUTHFIELD — The Michigan Chapter of the Council on American Islamic Relations, CAIR- MI, filed a lawsuit last week against the Michigan Department of Corrections for not providing adequate nutrition for Muslim inmates throughout the month of Ramadan, during which Muslims are religiously required to refrain from consuming food and beverages from sunrise to sunset.
