DETROIT — Fouad Ashkar, manager, economic development and ethnic marketing for DTE Energy, was among 65 professionals selected to participate in the upcoming Leadership Detroit program.
Leadership Detroit is the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce’s premier leadership development and training program.
“The Leadership Detroit program has benefited many DTE Energy leaders and we’re delighted that Fouad will be able to participate in the next class,” said Trevor Lauer, DTE Energy vice president, retail marketing. “The program packs a lot of information and hands-on experience that will make Fouad not only a more valuable employee, but a valued member of his community.”
More than 1,600 regional leaders have completed the program, including such notables as Gov. Jennifer Granholm, White House Press Secretary Tony Snow and Detroit Police Chief Ella Bully-Cummings.
“Leadership Detroit regularly attracts the finest leaders from around the Detroit region,” said Dick Blouse Jr., president and CEO, Detroit Regional Chamber. “This year is no exception.”
Founded in 1979, Leadership Detroit provides the foundation for a lifelong commitment to leadership by creating awareness of key issues that affect the Detroit region, and challenges emerging and existing community leaders to bring about positive change in the community through informed leadership.
With more than 23,000 members, the Detroit Regional Chamber is the largest chamber of commerce in the country. The Chamber’s mission is carried out through business attraction efforts, public policy advocacy, strategic partnerships, and quality products and services for its members.
